Situation and Surroundings
In the National Park of Sierra Nevada lies Barranco de Poqueira, nestled in the heart of Granada’s Alpujarra. Here, on the south slope of the Veleta mountain, we find Villa de Bubión, with magnificent views of Sierra Nevada. Barranco de Poqueira is located in the touristic centre of the Alpujarra, originating in the peaks of Sierra Nevada and waving through the villages of Capileira, Bubión and Pampaneira. Considered a Historical-Artistic Settlement, Barranco de Poqueira defines the stereotype of Alpujarran villages, a landscape of steep streets and terraced houses with traditional pebble roofs. The Moorish architecture, the peace and purity of its environment and a pleasant Mediterranean climate have made of Bubión a perfect retreat for travelers. The area is ideal for practicing hiking, horseback riding and excursions on mountain bikes or 4x4 vehicles. In fact, there are trails ranging from this town right up to the peaks Veleta and Mulhacén.
